…), dont la foutraque pochette est ici encore dessinée par kab, pur allumé et taré du pinceau, descendant tout à la fois de dubout, margerin et gilbert shelton ! ... leur univers déjanté est complété par une série de clips furieux et habités, qui mériteraient à eux seuls la sortie d'un dvd/blu-ray. l'album, brut de décoffrage, a été enregistré par leur pote dimitri (idc - image et son - studio mobile) , live mais sans public, dans leur quartier général "le galion" (fameux bar/salle de concerts qui a vu défiler depuis un peu plus de sept ans un bon paquet d'artistes de passage, kid congo, les cosmic psychos, ben vaughn, la fine fleur des groupes des labels beast ou closer (the curse par exemple), henry's funeral shoe, the bonnevilles, j'en passe et des meilleures...), donnant à cette bruyante enclave de la cité portuaire autrefois prospère un petit air cosmopolite et interlope digne du hambourg des années soixante ... osez, usez de ce boucan d'enfer de ce "two men band",qui vous prouvera qu'à lorient, il n'est plus seulement question de pêche aux harengs... imagine, if you can, two outerspace-rednecks gone beserk; two freaks who proudly channel the spirit of "deliverance" and "2000 maniacs", but with a fuel injection of humor and cheap space-comics etiquette in place of ultra-violence... but make no mistake, if they have opted for the duo formula, that is by no way a sheeplike followership nor surfing in the wake of the minimal gang or other one man band trend en vogue during the past years among garage or trashy blues alumni, hungry for easy sensations. if –undoubtedly- one could notice some hazil hadkins traces in their attitude, as well as in the tortuous meanderings of their disturbed minds, they go much further ahead of the simple musical caricature song, and are perfectly able to distill hits with vintage choruses and melodies. our two lads are setting the house on fire with their second album (the first ‘self-produced’ title released two years ago was adopted by the whole closer staff! ), whose nutty cover is again designed by "kab", a pure hit crazy gonzo too, reminiscent of either dubout, margerin or gilbert shelton! ... their loony world wouldn't be complete without a series of furious and inhabited video-clips, which alone should deserve the release of a dvd / blu-ray. the album, rough around the edges, was recorded by their pal dimitri (idc-image and sound - mobile studio) in their "le galion" headquarters (a famous bar/concert hall which has hosted for more than seven years the likes of touring artists, kid congo, the cosmic psychos, ben vaughn, and various bands from closer or beast labels (example : the curse), henry's funeral shoe , the bonnevilles -, and so on ...), giving this noisy enclave of a once prosperous port city a small cosmopolitan and interloping mood, worthy of sixties' hamburg ... give the devilish storm which is this "two man band", and they will prove to you that lorient is just not about herring fishing* ( * frenchy private joke based on an old naughty song..)... ■ lire la suite out now! …) affiche un cv commençant au cbgb's des années 70 et se terminant au rock and roll hall of fame. tout à la fois membre fondateur de blondie et musicien de session très convoité, clem est rompu aux arcanes de l' industrie musicale , mais il a encore en lui, plus que tout autre musicien de son âge, cette passion de "monter dans le van et d’aller à la rencontre des fans". pour dire les choses simplement, il n'y a personne de comparable ici-bas à clem ... michael giblin : bassiste / chanteur, giblin est le savant fou qui tient les manettes de the split squad , projet assemblé dans le prolongement de son groupe parallax project, avec lequel il avait croisé tous les autres au gré des différentes tournées et sessions d'enregistrement . connu dans le circuit de l’underground pop des 90’s en tant que membre du trio power pop cherry twister , giblin a passé de nombreuses années à bosser dur dans les entrailles du music business en tant que bassiste de studio, chef d'orchestre , producteur, et plus généralement « bon gars ». keith streng : connu et reconnu en tant que membre fondateur de l'un de ces groupes rock dont la reconnaissance universelle n’a d’égale que la longévité, the fleshtones , le guitariste keith streng met à disposition du projet une passion et un dévouement que bien peu seraient en mesure d’apporter. 30 ans au compteur (et ce n’est pas fini) , the fleshtones restent une des plus sûres valeurs du rock : jamais un mauvais gig , jamais une nuit de repos . ils sont tout aussi indestructibles qu’excitants. son statut de musicien « solide comme le roc » combiné avec son jeu de scène acrobatique et décalé, se complètent pour offrir l’une des expériences live les plus jouissives. il y a eu des bouquins écrits, des documentaires tournés sur lui aussi. en un mot ... une institution. josh kantor : l’homme derrière les claviers, josh kantor, apporte la plus sauvage des diversités à l'ensemble. en tant que membre des bostoniens jim’s big ego, et de the baseball project , supergroupe reconnu par la critique (réunissant des membres de dream syndicate et rem ), josh a côtoyé un certain nombre de sommités du rock , mais il parvient toujours à trouver du temps pour assurer son job principal, qui se trouve être le boulot d’organiste dans les red sox de boston. josh leur apporte un niveau de compétence et un vocabulaire musical que très peu peuvent égaler. le groupe s’est réuni à boston durant l'été 2012 pour y enregistrer un album, qui s’est transformé peu à peu en une bonne partie de plaisir, pêchue et hilarante. produit par scott mccaughey ( rem , minus 5 , young fresh fellows ), cet album comprend aussi une belle brochette d’ invités, mc caughey , l’ autre lauréat du rock & roll hall of fame peter buck ( rem ) , hugo burnham ( gang of four ) , et mike gent ( the figgs ) . l'assemblage de chansons qui en résulte est un voyage fougueux et diversifié à travers les influences et les collections de disques respectives de ces musiciens honteusement expérimentés. et là, mec !
